The gouerner his greevances, [ca. 1620].

Manuscript list of complaints addressed to the Virginia Company, who controlled Bermuda, written either by or for Governor Nathaniel Boteler. The list is divided into two parts: the governor's grievances, a list of 13 articles, and the people's grievances, a list of 8 articles. Both lists describe the various ways in which the Virginia Company had neglected the colony: recruits sent from Newgate, the trading monopoly kept by the Company, the poverty of the residents, and the edict against trading tobacco.
